OMET and MEILLER: a long-lasting partnership to face the future challenges

Meiller is one of the leading manufacturers of the lift doors sector in Europe, active on the market for more than 50 years. For OMET Systems in Motion, the company lead by Wolfgang Nothaft, Meiller Managing Director, is a perfect example of loyalty and trust: client satisfaction represents always the first big challenge. “The quality of OMET’s products make a significant contribution to Meiller’s product quality” says Manfred Strohmair, Meiller Head of Purchasing, in this interesting interview about our long-lasting collaboration.
Mr. Strohmair, can you tell us something about Meiller’s story?
MEILLER Aufzugtüren GmbH is an independent subsidiary of the market leader F.X. MEILLER Fahrzeug- und Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co KG, which has its traditional head office in Munich, Germany. MEILLER has been synonymous with technical quality and Innovation at the highest level for more than 166 years. Our success is the result of a wide range of services based on quality.
Which are your flagship products?
Our flagship products are the doors for big and very big lifts. Meanwhile we have three product lines of horizontal automatic doors for goods lifts up to a size of 5x8 meters. On the other side we have quite a strong position in special passenger lifts, such as for railways, hospitals and for many other highly and heavily used specifications. Highrises will be our next challenge.
How do you differentiate on the market place?
MEILLER is rightly considered a specialist for highly aesthetic and elegant portals, with a multi-layered product range for customized special solutions.
What did motivate you in the past to entrust your projects to us?
A big part of our success must be shared with the expertise and the reliable contacts we found at OMET. As a result, we have always been able to meet our customers and their requirements with solution-oriented products and a short time to market.
What do you have mainly appreciated about our cooperation?
Already at a very early stage of our cooperation we got the view that OMET has a very wide experience with rolls and in joint development solutions in relation to our requirements. This impression was confirmed in many of our projects and thus makes OMET a strategically important supplier for us.
Do you receive particular appreciations about products mounting OMET accessories/rollers?
We don´t get direct feedback from customers about the direct materials we use from OMET. Nevertheless, the quality of the OMET products makes a significant contribution to MEILLER product quality.
How do you see the future of the sector? What do you consider essential to invest today?
We want to be strong in product development: we should be prepared to face a high technical demand, complexity and flexibility. Compared with standard products, this is a quite different market. Basing our experience in central Europe, we should also be able to find end explore similar markets around the world.
How are you reacting to the crisis we are facing and to the uncertainty induced by the pandemic?
Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been working even more closely with our suppliers. In concrete terms, this means that we regularly consult with all our suppliers about current and future materials and all influences affecting the entire supply chain, so that we can react at an early stage if necessary. Now, after a year in this situation, we can look back and assess the supply situation as satisfactory despite all odds. For the future, we are full of confidence and we count on the performance of our suppliers, who have organized themselves very well and are therefore able to deliver reliably.
What does it mean for your having a long and strong partnership with your suppliers?
A customer-supplier relationship based on a partnership is positive for the fact that one knows the wishes, requirements and market environment of the other. Very important for us are trust and reliability in cooperation. Thus, OMET has become an important supplier over the many years of our partnership and we are looking forward to face together the challenges that the future will bring us.
